About the Client

Robin College is a private career college serving students through campuses in Edmonton, Spruce Grove and Red Deer, with diploma and certificate programs across business, healthcare, technology and community-focused fields.

The college needed more than a visual refresh. Its website had accumulated technical debt, outdated content and operational friction that made it harder for staff to manage program information and harder for prospective students to move from research to inquiry.

This became an education website migration and SEO case study focused on three outcomes: restore reliable control of the website, improve program discovery and strengthen the path from organic search to student inquiry.

Project snapshot

  • Industry: Career education / private college
  • Markets: Edmonton, Spruce Grove and Red Deer
  • Primary goal: Improve program visibility, website control and student inquiry paths
  • Work: Website migration, technical cleanup, program-page optimization, SEO and ongoing web support

The project directly informs our education and training website design work for colleges, career schools and training providers.

The Challenge

Robin College needed a more dependable website system for both students and staff. The issues were operational as well as marketing-related:

  • Program information was difficult to update consistently.
  • Technical issues and broken site elements were creating maintenance risk.
  • Program pages needed clearer structure for prospective students comparing training options.
  • Campus and program relationships were not being used effectively for search visibility.
  • Inquiry paths needed to be simpler on mobile.
  • The college needed reliable ownership, access and an ongoing support process.

For education websites, these issues compound quickly. A prospective student may compare several programs, campuses, schedules and career outcomes before making contact. If the site is difficult to navigate or program information is unclear, enrollment interest can disappear before an inquiry is submitted.

The goal was to stabilize the platform first, then improve the program and search architecture around how students actually research training.

The Results

After migration and optimization, Robin College recorded measurable improvements in how prospective students found and used the website.

Measured outcomes

  • 56% increase in organic program searches
  • 5.2× increase in time on program pages
  • 24–48 hour guaranteed update turnaround for ongoing website support

The gains matter because program discovery and program-page engagement sit close to enrollment intent. More qualified searches reached the site, and students spent substantially longer with the pages designed to help them compare options.

This case study connects our education and training website, web development and SEO work in one project.

Web Design & Development

Rather than replacing everything for the sake of a redesign, we migrated and improved the existing website around reliability, ownership and student usability.

Program discovery and inquiry flow

  • Improved the structure of program pages so key information is easier to scan and compare.
  • Cleaned up broken links, performance issues and mobile usability problems.
  • Simplified inquiry and application pathways for prospective students.
  • Improved navigation between programs, campuses and student resources.
  • Established clearer administrative access and ongoing website management.
  • Implemented monitoring and a documented support process for future updates.

The project is a practical example of our Edmonton web development approach when a website already has valuable content and history: preserve what works, fix what does not and avoid rebuilding without a reason.

Search Engine Optimization

SEO work focused on the pages closest to enrollment intent: individual programs, campus information and the relationships between them.

Program and location search architecture

  • Strengthened on-page targeting for diploma and certificate program searches.
  • Improved campus and location context for Edmonton, Spruce Grove and Red Deer.
  • Reworked metadata, headings and internal links across key program pages.
  • Improved technical crawlability and Core Web Vitals.
  • Connected related programs, campuses and student resources more deliberately.
  • Added structured data where it helped search engines understand page content.

The result was stronger organic discovery without separating SEO from the student experience. The same principle guides our Edmonton SEO work: a page needs to match search intent and help the visitor make a decision after they arrive.

Content & Conversion Strategy

Education content has to do more than describe a school. Prospective students want to know what they will learn, how long the program takes, where it is offered, what the next step is and whether the institution feels credible.

We improved program and campus content around those decision points, clarified calls to action and strengthened internal links between related programs and resources. The goal was to make the site easier to use for students while also giving search engines clearer topical and location context.

That approach now informs the content framework used across our education website projects.
